The Census Golf Club began a novice program in 1997. The goal of the novice program is to
introduce the game of golf to people who have never played or to re-introduce the game to
people who have not played for years. It provides a great opportunity to play with others
of similar skill levels. There have been some novices return in subsequent years to participate, while
other novices have moved on to successfully play in regular club outings and events.
We are again planning on having a novice group this season, although time for mentors to assist
the group may be more limited than in the past. We pair novices with mentors throughout the year
to provide support, information on golf etiquette and equipment, and basic coaching.
