Obituary

John Minnich Leidich, 91, of Evangelical Congregational Church Retirement Village, Myerstown, PA, formerly of Newmanstown RD 1, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, in the home, where he had lived since 1994. He was the husband of the late Mary Maze Leidich.

Born on Nov. 10, 1905, in Manheim, he was the son of the late Otis Orville Leidich and Fannie Minnich Leidich.

He began teaching English at Millcreek Township School in 1928 and was supervising principal at the school from 1943 to 1954. He was designated assistant administrator of the Eastern Lebanon COunty Schools until his retirement in 1971. He was a graduate of Gettysburg College and Penn State. He was a member of Millcreek Lutheran Church, Newmanstown, and taught the adult Sunday School class for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Lebanon County Retired School Teachers Association.

He is survived by a son, John David, husband of Sandra Ann Hippert, of Myerstown; a daughter, Ann Marie, wife of Jack Kauffman, of Rosyln; grandsons John Charles, Mark Douglas, and Philip Bruce Leidich; great grandsons Matthew Alan and Andrew Garrett Leidich; great granddaughters Elizabeth Hope and Hannah Elizabeth Leidich; a sister, Anna Leidich, of Westminster, MD; and a nephew David Drawbaugh, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

He was preceded in death by a brother, David Leidich, and a sister, Mary Drawbaugh.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Millcreek Lutheran Church, Newmanstown. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery, Richland.
